CHIMAIRA: Footage From 'Secret' Hometown Show Posted Online
October 26, 2008Cleveland's CHIMAIRA played a "secret" show under the name PURE HATRED on Saturday, October 18 at the Roc Bar in the band's hometown. Fan-filmed video footage from the concert can be viewed below. More clips from the gig are available at this location.
Vocalist Mark Hunter previously stated about the performance: "For the first time in our history, we played a secret show for a few fans and our friends and family.
"The idea for the show came from Rob [Arnold, guitar] and I talking about when we were younger and were excited to just play for our friends, and how it was so fun calling up and trying to get your own show. I said, 'What if we do that now?' We called, made up a band name and the next day we had a show. It was awesome. [it]was a great way to get back to how it felt the first time we played a show. Just jamming and not worrying about anything that comes with being in a known band. This was the most fun we've had in a long long time."
CHIMAIRA has just entered the studio in the band's hometown with producer Ben Schigel to begin recording its new album for an April 28, 2009 North American release via Ferret Music. CHIMAIRA is looking for label to release the new album in territories outside North America (the band is no longer signed to Nuclear Blast, which released "Resurrection" in Europe).
CHIMAIRA will play its ninth annual Christmas show on December 30 at the House of Blues in the band's hometown. Tickets will be $9.99.
CHIMAIRA has teamed up with Yahoo! Live to give fans unprecedented access to the band's recording process. Fans can visit the group's official web site, and if the "Live Cam" button is lit up in red, fans can watch and listen to the band in the studio and even chat with the band members!
